First, I'm using Windows 8.1 on an Asus q501La. The problem I'm facing is that my touch screen is only partially working. I can scroll back and forth using touch and open a few apps using touch.

However, some apps won't launch when I touch them. For example, the first group on my start screen won't open when I touch them, but they will respond to my touch pad and mouse. Once I open them using my mouse, the touch works fine. I can scroll through the apps and they respond well. Moreover, the other groups of apps don't seem to be affected by this problem. Hi Paul, I would suggest you to set the touch screen and check if it fixes the issue: Configure the touch display: • In the Windows Start screen, type Tablet PC Settings to open the Search charm, and then select Tablet PC Settings from the results list. • On the Display tab of Tablet PC Settings, click Setup. • Follow the onscreen directions to identify your screen as a touch screen. • Tap the screen to see if it responds.
