The story of the serial revolves around two mothers who share a single child. The two mothers are; Devika and Sethulakshmi.

The story of the serial begins with Sethulakshmi getting married but is interrupted by her own father, Karnan. Her father always detested Sethulakshmi and her mother. Because of this, he married another woman. He wants Sethulakshmi to stop her wedding and marry his new brother in law. He forces Sethulakshmi to marry his new brother in law who is a truck driver. Sethulakshmi’s mother couldn’t handle the situation and decides to poison herself and her children but somehow the children survive.

But the mother poisons herself and leaves the world. Rajeev, is the one in the show who has to withdraw from marrying Sethulakshmi due to the pressure from his family. But in order to rescue Sethulakshmi and all her sisters, he jumps in to marry her at the same time. Sethulakshmi can only trust her uncle who also happens to be her guardian. He agrees to the wedding.

With her uncle's blessings, Sethulakshmi and Rajeev get married and start a happy life. After a year, Sethulakshmi gets pregnant and Rajeev decides to go abroad. In the hospital, Sethulakshmi meets a new roommate called Devika. She is also pregnant. Devika has been cheated by her husband and the only support she has in her life is her mother. The prayers of the enemies of Sethulakshmi come true when her child gets aborted. But, Sethulakshmi’s uncle tells Rajeev that she has given birth to a girl child.

Rajeev tells him that he will be coming home for the next ten days. This shocks everyone. Meanwhile, Devika gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. Sethulakshmi’s uncle goes to Devika and requests her to help Sethulakshmi by giving her child to her. Devika doesn’t agree to this but she is unable to ignore the pain of Sethulakshmi and agrees to this. She gives her daughter to Sethulakshmi for ten days on the condition that for at least one hour a day she will get to see her child.
